Weleda North America
It’s all about managing growth from the roots—from our roots. Development is my passion in every way and for as long as I can recall. I especially love to see and be a part of the development of individuals and companies who organize themselves around a cause that drives people to excellence.
In my family, there is also a lot of everyday development. I have two lovely young daughters, Sarah and Anne, and an amazing wife. (She’s also a great mother!) It is such a pleasure and so inspiring to see them grow.
Born in Tilburg, Netherlands, I grew up with Weleda all around me. I remember our bathroom being full of colorful Weleda bottles. Today, my favorite products are the Sea Buckthorn Hand Cream, Salt Toothpaste and Euphrasia 3x eye drops.
My first 12 years—at least the first 12 I vividly remember—were spent at a Waldorf school. I then moved to Rotterdam to study economics at Erasmus University.
After graduating with a master of science degree in economics, I attended a management trainee program for two years. I had the fortunate experience of working as a project manager in various companies, concentrating on new business development and business controlling—all with on-the-job coaching. After that, I moved to Utrecht and worked in sales and account management for two years. While there, a childhood friend of mine, Bas (now the director of Weleda Naturals), joined Weleda’s team in Germany. He would tell me the most inspiring stories about Weleda. I was immediately interested! He introduced me to some key people at Weleda’s headquarters and the rest is history. I moved to Stuttgart, Germany, where I lived for five years while working for our offices in the nearby city of Schwäbisch Gmünd. My leadership responsibilities grew, and now I’m here, living just outside New York City, not far from our North American headquarters, and working with a great team.
We strive, together, to make the planet a little better, and that is what I really like about working for Weleda. Whatever we do as a company, we know it can and does really make a difference—to our customers, to our planet and to our co-workers. That is very inspiring.
