When I started working at Weleda, I had very little knowledge of the organization or the industry, although I had been involved in the health and fitness industry and lifestyle for many years. But seeing the benefits of natural and organic skin care has really opened my eyes. Right from the start, I felt like I had been a part of the Weleda team for many years. People not only helped, but wanted to offer advice and knowledge on what they had experienced over the years. You feel a great sense of pride when you work for a company that does business in a right and fair way. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has always been an important factor to me and knowing that Weleda operates in that area makes working here even better. The people and company could not have better intentions in mind. When people ask what I do, I am proud to tell them I work for Weleda, a leader in the natural products industry.
After earning my MBA from the Clark University School of Management in Worcester, MA, I moved back to my roots: New York. By joining Weleda, I gained a new family. I was quickly introduced to the plethora of products Weleda offers and have become an advocate of them myself. While body care products have never been a major part of my life, I can now say I use many of our products consistently. I cannot shower without my Sea Buckthorn Creamy Body Wash. My gym bag always has Arnica Massage Oil in it, which I use both before and after the gym, and as many of my Weleda colleagues know, my gym bag goes everywhere with me.
Unlike many others at Weleda who have worked here for many years, I have only been on board for a year and a half, as the Controller. I will be spending the first six months of 2010 at Weleda Germany in Schwäbisch Gmünd, working alongside my international colleagues to not only learn financial controls and tools, but to gain a deeper insight into the culture of Weleda and Germany. I am very excited and appreciative of this opportunity, as I see it as a great learning and growing opportunity. I will be blogging about my experiences working at Weleda Germany, so stay tuned.
