Weleda North America
Working for Weleda means working with a team that is incredibly committed. The work we do and the products we develop and sell make a tangible, positive difference in the lives of many people.
As it so often is in life, it was more chance than intention that brought me here. I am originally from Germany—more specifically, from Schwäbisch Gmünd, a small town in the southwest that is home to Weleda.
I studied international management studies and planned to spend my last summer before graduating in New York City, a place that I had visited several times before and to which I always felt strongly connected. To justify my stay, I looked for an internship. A friend offered me the chance to work for Weleda in the US. I enjoyed my time here but did not seriously consider that I might return. A few months after my return, I was offered a job here as controller and did not have to think long to accept. While gaining insight into all areas of the company, I attended graduate school at New York University, ultimately earning an MBA. Today, I live in New York City with my wife and my two children, Josef and Laila.
My first encounter with Weleda was long before I even knew of the company. One of my earliest childhood memories is the scent of Weleda Arnica Massage Oil. My mother put it on every morning. Maybe that’s why it is still one of my favorite products. Today, I use Weleda Baby products on my own children, and when my wife needs a break, she comes to the Weleda Spa. My son, Josef, takes great pride when he sees Weleda products in a store. His eyes light up when he sees our colorful products, and he says, “Papi, this is from your work!” When I hear that, I wonder if Weleda will “stick” with him the same way it has for me.
