The Sweet Sounds of Summer
Summer is here, which means memory-making fun times and suntans are happening right now. And because every summer needs a playlist, we’ve pulled together the songs that remind us the most of the season. Whether it’s getting in the mood for a trip to the beach or flashbacks to summers past, we hope you love this playlist as much as we do. Enjoy this summer, as every summer, happily, healthfully and beautifully. Oh yeah, and Rock On Weleda Family! We Are Young – FUN ♦ Christine B.  Asst. The Benefits of Baby Massage
We recently started offering baby massage, and baby massage classes, at our spa in Palisades, NY. I sat down with Patricia Pol, our infant massage therapist and instructor, to ask her about the benefits of massaging your baby. Little did I know there would be so many! Here's what she told me.   Me: What are the benefits of baby massage? Patricia: There are so many! Massage helps improve your baby’s sleeping patterns and digestion. It can also ease congestion and soothe babies with colic. Using long strokes helps with muscle coordination and aids development. It can even help them build up the strength in their neck,...

Arnica to the Rescue
Summer is finally here after a spring with a lot of rain and rather cool temperatures. When it finally turned warm a few weeks ago, everybody was out and about. The number of bicyclists that all of a sudden turned up on Route 9W, the popular biking route near Weleda’s headquarters, was quite staggering, and for me it was time to saddle up as well! It’s a rather scenic ride along the Hudson River, and I like to do my part for the environment by bicycling to the office. I am admittedly a fair-weather rider, so there is no need to look for me on the trails unless it is nice outside. The first ride of the season is always such a joy,...

The Itch is Back
When Ben was a toddler he had eczema on the inside of his elbows and thighs. It was a struggle to ease the itching and keep the skin hydrated enough not to crack and bleed when he scratched all the time. My fears were that we would have to use hydrocortisone which is not good for the skin when used long term. I am lucky to work at Weleda because I could experiment with different natural products to see which worked best. The best results were from using Weleda Calendula Oil after an oatmeal bath. I would then slather Skin Food on the extra dry spots. We’d have to put Skin Food on again if he started itching. We did this at every diaper...

Today, with the environment ever at risk, our company has vowed to step up its efforts to protect the planet and to work with a meaningful footprint.  The Weleda Group has set several major goals and measures for...

The Winter Blues
Right now, the U.S., Europe and China are in the grip of severely cold weather. Winter, and its accompanying cold and flu season, is clearly upon us. Inclement conditions, along with short days, tend to keep most of us indoors, and in close proximity to each other. As a pharmacist, I come in frequent contact with customers who are suffering  from colds or the flu, and you may wonder how I protect myself.* To put things into perspective, we all constantly come into contact with disease-causing bacteria and viruses, but mostly, we do not get sick. Our bodies largely have the ability to protect us, and I think it’s important to remember...
