The Winter Blues
Right now, the U.S., Europe and China are in the grip of severely cold weather. Winter, and its accompanying cold and flu season, is clearly upon us. Inclement conditions, along with short days, tend to keep most of us indoors, and in close proximity to each other. As a pharmacist, I come in frequent contact with customers who are suffering  from colds or the flu, and you may wonder how I protect myself.* To put things into perspective, we all constantly come into contact with disease-causing bacteria and viruses, but mostly, we do not get sick. I tell customers who call us that they may find it the taste strange at first, because it’s very different than most conventional toothpastes. But once you start using it regularly, you won’t be able to go back to the other stuff. And anyway, have...

Your Skin and the Change of Seasons
In the fall, when the temperatures drop and wind and rain strain our skin, it may need some extra pampering. I talked to Patricia Pol, the esthetician and expert in natural skin care at our spa in Palisades, NY, about how to best prepare our skin for the change of season. Here’s what she had to say. Me: How can the change of seasons affect my skin?Patricia: The change of season always affects our skin. While summer air is more humid and moisture-rich, the cold, dry air in fall and winter leaves our skin dehydrated, flaky and rough. You might notice more dry spots, especially in the T-zone (the area around your nose, chin and forehead)....
