The Itch is Back
When Ben was a toddler he had eczema on the inside of his elbows and thighs. It was a struggle to ease the itching and keep the skin hydrated enough not to crack and bleed when he scratched all the time. My fears were that we would have to use hydrocortisone which is not good for the skin when used long term. I am lucky to work at Weleda because I could experiment with different natural products to see which worked best. The best results were from using Weleda Calendula Oil after an oatmeal bath. I would then slather Skin Food on the extra dry spots. We’d have to put Skin Food on again if he started itching. We did this at every diaper...

Attack of the Beauty Masque
Ben is wonderful.  He is 4 ½ years-old, sweet and very funny.  He wants my attention always.  We have a snack and read a picture book.  Lately he is interested in the Greek myths.  Medusa, the 12 labors of Hercules.   It is easy to be fascinated with these stories. To get a moment to myself I have a secret weapon so I don’t end up looking like Medusa: The Beauty Masque. I choose Weleda’s Almond Facial Masque because it is soothing for sensitive skin.  My skin is blotchy and sometimes dry.  The masque is a beautiful saffron yellow color because of the carrot extract in it. The carotene in...

Calendula Baby Care 101
We get a lot of questions in customer service about our Calendula Baby Care: Which products should I use on my new baby? When can I start using the Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash? It reminds me of when Ben was a newborn—I was supercareful and scared to even bathe him. But. as you can see from this photo, he's a big boy now. Although keeping an infant’s skin clean is important, bathing a baby every two or three days is sufficient. I always tell customers to bathe newborns with the Calendula Cream Bath. It’s added to the bath water, sponged on and leaves a soothing, protective layer of moisture on your baby’s skin. I still use...

My Weleda Kid
My son, Ben, is such a critic these days! Today he told me that I have too many Weleda products in the bathroom. It got me thinking about how Weleda is a friend throughout my day. I use our products morning and night, and whether Ben knows it or not, so does he! My favorite product, Salt Toothpaste, did take some getting used to, I admit. But I have been using it now for 18 years. I tell customers who call us that they may find it the taste strange at first, because it’s very different than most conventional toothpastes. But once you start using it regularly, you won’t be able to go back to the other stuff. And anyway, have...

When Facial Time Becomes Family Time
I recently gave my husband, Dan, a mini Weleda facial for his 40th birthday, using the skin tips that I’ve learned at Weleda.  It turned into a fun family affair when our 6-year-old, Ben, decided he wanted to help. Before we started, Dan shaved with our Men’s Shaving Cream, and I washed his face with the Almond Cleansing Lotion—it’s perfect for sensitive skin like his. Next I gently massaged on our soothing Almond Moisture Cream, and then he laid down for a few minutes with a hot towel on his face, listening to music. While he was relaxing, Ben and I prepared a facial mask.  We mixed clay earth with a few drops of...
