Natural Remedies for Sniffles and Sneezes
It is still very much winter, just ask anyone in the mid-Atlantic states, where record amounts of snow have fallen this year. It even snowed in Florida! The groundhog, it seems, wasn’t kidding when he predicted six more weeks of winter. The GreenShows: Fashion with a Conscience
The GreenShows just wrapped up in New York City, but the buzz they generated is alive and well. From Joann Berman’s rollicking frocks to Samantha Pleet’s youthful jumpers, all 10 fashion labels proved that sustainable fashion is wearable, beautiful and more than a passing fad. An American in Germany
It’s hard to believe that it’s been just three weeks since I left Weleda North America to begin a six month stint working at Weleda AG in Germany. So far, the biggest difference I’ve noticed between Weleda AG and Weleda North America is the size of the offices. There are more than 1,000 employees working at our headquarters in Schwäbisch Gmünd, and only 30 in our office in Palisades, NY! Weleda is the top-selling natural skin care brand in Germany, but despite its large size, Weleda AG does not feel like a corporate giant. Snowed In: Our Gardens in February
This month, our Biodynamic® gardens are beautiful and calm. Everything is covered with snow. Occasionally a few birds fly around, searching for food. Not much is growing, but there are a few exceptions. Helleborus niger (black hellebore) and Daphne mezereum (Daphne) are two medicinal plants that seem to have a totally different rhythm from most others. They flower even when there is snow! Helleborus niger has a fascinating white flower, while Daphne mezereum is a low-growing shrub with lovely, yet toxic, purplish-pink flowers. Best of Social Media: January
January has been a fun month for us on Twitter and Facebook! Our community is steadily growing, and we have the greatest fans and followers any brand could hope for. A highlight for us this month--and we hope for you as well--was our Sunflower Haiku contest on Facebook. We picked two winners: Jennifer Hutzel, who received our Pomegranate Regenerating Body Care; and Karina Le, who is only eight-years-old and recited her winning Haiku off the top of her head!
