Farmers at Heart
Happy Earth Month! At Weleda, we’re celebrating with beautiful products from beautiful earth. Take Skin Food, for instance. Five of the core plants in this intensely nourishing cream—sunflower, chamomile, pansy, rosemary and calendula (pictured)—are grown organically. Why? Because we think that amazing products begin with amazing soil. Because life nurtures life.  Because it’s the right thing to do. Because we care about you, and about the planet, too.  Weleda continually invests time, money and knowledge into building long-term, sustainable projects with our farmers and partners. Our responsible sourcing of resources and careful cultivation of plants...

Signs of Spring in our Gardens
Old man winter just won’t give up here! Just when we thought he was gone for good, he returned again. For nearly a week, we had sun and our ducks were running all over the garden, having fun and looking for something to eat. Then it snowed and we had to put them back in the greenhouse—at least for now, until it warms up again. In the Customer Center at Weleda Naturals, in Wetzgau, Germany, the telephone is ringing off the hook—a sure sign that spring is on the way. We are now booking sightseeing appointments for a special “Well-Being Tour” that we are offering in April, for groups of about 12 people each. Our guides take each group on a tour of our...

Retailer Spotlight - The Big Carrot in Toronto
With 50 owners and 200 employees, The Big Carrot in Toronto is one of the largest worker-owned co-ops in all of Canada. It’s grown quite a lot since it was founded in 1983, with just 12 members. Today, one of the store's greatest strengths is the accumulated knowledge and experience of its members and staff. The store maintains exacting standards, which have evolved through its 25 years of searching for nature’s finest—in both food and personal care. The Big Carrot stocks almost all of Weleda's skin and body care products, and they sell more of our products than any other store in all of Canada! The employees are well-versed in Weleda and can...

Best of Social Media: February
A big thanks to the many thousands of you who are now connecting with us on Facebook and on Twitter! I’m sure that, back in 1921, our company founders, Dr. Rudolf Steiner and Dr. Ita Wegman, could have never envisioned a day when we would engage with our fans in a digital world. But they believed in a personal approach to health care and wellness, so I think they would be happy knowing we are connecting with you and sharing our passion for beauty and wellness throughout the world, even if it's a virtual one. Weleda is about cultivating beauty with ingredients straight from the earth, and we're always trying to think up fresh ways we can...

Retailer Spotlight: Organica Natural Foods
The organic lifestyle is nothing new to John Marrone. In the late '70s, when he was just 25, he took a trip to California, where he was amazed by how many people shared his desire to live a natural, healthy life. He came back to New Jersey with a dream to open a store that would sell natural, nutritious foods for the whole body. He quickly turned that dream into a reality. In 1978, he opened Organica Natural Foods in Northvale, NJ, about 15 miles north of New York City. His brother Mark became his business partner one year later. Initially, Organica was a tiny store front, but it has since expanded three different times. It's now well-merchandised,...
