Sun Safety Tips
I can always tell when summer is in full swing on Monday mornings when weekenders return from the beach, looking like they forgot to apply enough sunscreen. I also see the sunburned faces and shoulders of baseball fans whenever I take the train to New York City on a day when the Yankees are playing at home. Personally, I am a fan of biking and rollerblading outdoors during the warmer months, so I definitely have to wear sunscreen. My skin is very fond of our Sea Buckthorn Body Oil as an after-sun treat. It absorbs very easily and contains antioxidant-rich organic sesame seed oil to promote skin renewal and protect against skin-damaging influences. I...

Getting to the Bottom of Cellulite
Summertime is officially here! Time for barbecues, beaches and … bathing suits. Instead of celebrating, many of us bemoan the return of bathing suit season because we worry about every little flaw, like those last few pounds or about the appearance of our cellulite. In fact, more than 90 percent of all women, encompassing all skin types, are reported to have cellulite. The good news is that it's not a medical concern but rather a question of aesthetics. It’s a prevalent skin condition that arises naturally, but we can also lessen its appearance naturally through a whole-body approach. By living a balanced lifestyle and following a comprehensive skin...

Arnica to the Rescue
It seems to be the same every year: Spring arrives, the days get longer, and I just can’t wait to get outside. For me, spring means the start of bicycling and rollerblading season. Even though hot yoga keeps me in shape during the winter months, the first bike ride of the season invariably brings with it some sore muscles. Fortunately, I have a well-stocked medicine cabinet (more on that in a future blog), so relief is not far away. For muscle pain, my preferred treatment is the Weleda homeopathic Arnica Ointment . It’s also very useful for sprains and bruises. Of course, I always make a resolution to stretch more, but I’ve definitely got room for...

Ingredient Spotlight: Plum Kernel Oil
If you’re like me, when you think of plums, you probably think of that nursery rhyme about Little Jack Horner in the corner. But recently I've developed a whole new appreciation for plums (prunus domestica) , especially for the rich and nourishing plum kernel oil, which is pressed from the kernels of the fruit and is This oil is an important ingredient in our Almond Facial Care line. In fact, plums and almonds belong in the same family. The taste of plum kernel oil closely resembles that of marzipan (almond paste), and it's rich in antioxidants, unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E....

Natural Relief from Seasonal Allergies
It is beautiful outside! Almost everything is now in bloom, and the trees are showing off their brand-new, delicate leaves. It's the season of renewal, and most of us breathe in deeply, relieved that winter is behind us. However, not everyone shares this enthusiasm. Spring can also mean the beginning of allergy season. It is estimated that up to 20 percent of the adult population suffers from seasonal allergies, and the incidence in children is rising. With warm weather expected, the pollen forecast for Palisades, NY, where our office is located, is predicted to be very high. Already we've had a large number of inquiries about homeopathic treatments...
