Inspiration Fresh From The Farm
It’s all about fresh food this time of year. I get these cravings for slices of tomatoes on crusty bread with olive oil, salt and pepper. We made dinner the other night and many colors were represented, from green to yellow to purple. We had striped candy beets, French green beans and locally grown corn. It was definitely a sign of nature’s bounty. Ben and I had been to the Farmer's Market that day, and we were inspired. Ben, however, is not yet so inclined to eat many vegetables. He likes, as he calls them, "mixed-up vegetables"—corn, peas and carrots, and not much else. He does eat cannellini beans, a mild white bean that he...

The Many Benefits of Massage
A soothing massage may seem like a luxury, but in fact, it’s more than just a quick escape from the whirlwind of our busy lives. Boasting a wide range of benefits, massage can—and should be—an important part of healthy, balanced lifestyle. The Weleda Store + Spa in Palisades, NY, is a haven for whole-body healing, thanks to our certified-massage therapist and esthetician, Patricia Pol, whose massages are deeply relaxing and restoring. I try to book her when I can; her massages always seem to restore harmony to my mind, body and senses and leave me feeling like a new person.Just what are the benefits of massage? According to...

Arnica to the Rescue
Summer is finally here after a spring with a lot of rain and rather cool temperatures. When it finally turned warm a few weeks ago, everybody was out and about. The number of bicyclists that all of a sudden turned up on Route 9W, the popular biking route near Weleda’s headquarters, was quite staggering, and for me it was time to saddle up as well! It’s a rather scenic ride along the Hudson River, and I like to do my part for the environment by bicycling to the office. I am admittedly a fair-weather rider, so there is no need to look for me on the trails unless it is nice outside. The first ride of the season is always such a joy,...

4 Tips for Natural Summer Skincare
Hello, everyone! I am the new Communications Intern at Weleda, here to help you survive the summer heat in style, with my first blog! The transition to summer can be invigorating for the mind and body. Here are a few simple solutions to ensure your skin feels just as good as your spirit as the summer rolls in. 1. Lighten Up! As the weather warms our facial skin becomes less susceptible to over drying as the body begins to produce natural oils more regularly. To maintain a perfect balance of moisture without leaving the skin feeling greasy, switch to one of our facial lotions in place of our richer day creams. Perfect for those in their 20s, our...

Attack of the Beauty Masque
Ben is wonderful.  He is 4 ½ years-old, sweet and very funny.  He wants my attention always.  We have a snack and read a picture book.  Lately he is interested in the Greek myths.  Medusa, the 12 labors of Hercules.   It is easy to be fascinated with these stories. To get a moment to myself I have a secret weapon so I don’t end up looking like Medusa: The Beauty Masque. I choose Weleda’s Almond Facial Masque because it is soothing for sensitive skin.  My skin is blotchy and sometimes dry.  The masque is a beautiful saffron yellow color because of the carrot extract in it. The carotene in...
